Spring Cleaning Checklist: how to clean your place and keep it that way!

Spring it right around the corner. You know what that means; Spring Break and spring cleaning. While spring cleaning isn’t as fun, there are some useful checklist available to make cleaning those forgettable items, knowing what to do with your unwanted clothing and things, and how to keep your place clean easier.

Things you forget to clean and how often you should clean them

So, obviously, we all know you should dust, clean the kitchen and bathroom, and wash your sheets on the regular. But, what about your refrigerator coils? How often should you flip your mattress? Or clean your Keurig? Neglecting these easily forgotten tasks can cause you some trouble down the road. You may be causing your appliances to work harder than they need to, and, in the case of the Keurig, you could end up seriously sick. Also, your coffee will taste so much better after a cleaning.

So, here’s a handy checklist for these oft forgotten items.

Cleaning out that closet

Cleaning out closets can be so overwhelming and time-consuming. Because, to do it right, you must try everything on. If it doesn’t fit well, get rid of it. Getting rid of clothes, while difficult at the time, can make your life so much easier. Develop a capsule wardrobe and stick to it!

Once you have a healthy donate pile, actually donate it. If you don’t, you’ll end up pulling pieces back out and, before you know it, you’re back where started. So, find a donation center you like.

Here are a few good options:

Find a women’s crisis center in your area

The Children’s Emergency Center in your area

Goodwill / Savers / Salvation Army

Keeping it fresh

Now that your apartment is so fresh and so clean, keep it that way. Pinterest is full of daily cleaning schedules; find one you like and stick to it. We like the ones that allow for a relax or catch-up day because I always need that day.

By now, you know how much we love plants. Plants are not only aesthetically pleasing, but they are great for air quality. If you’re thinking about getting some plants to liven up your space, consider these.

So, create a fun Spring cleaning playlist (include some Outkast if you want) and pick a weekend to devote to getting your place so fresh and so clean, clean.
